🌱 Discover the intersection of health and literature for a thriving life.
After developing epilepsy at age 25, I lost the ability to read and write almost entirely. As a lifelong bookworm, I became determined to get my health back on track. I began annotating my books viciously while building my body from the ground up. I now focus on slow reading, thoughtful yoga, and meditation. Annotating and intentional movement brought me back to life.

Frequently Asked Questions
How can nutrition support your health goals?
Contrary to popular belief, it is more about sustenance sitting comfortably in your body than the historical ‘good for you’ nutrition. If you are uncomfortable, your body is unsupported.
How can I stay active in a chronic illness flare?
Chronic illness flares encourage more inactivity, making it difficult to start the process of movement.
Low impact exercises are most effective for reducing pain and improving movement throughout the body. I also recommend workouts for pregnant women – they work for everyone!
Daily stretching is vital in upkeeping health. Pick up an extra thick yoga mat today. The joint support is well worth it.
It is important that you find joy in these activities in order to continue. Take a nature walk and search for colorful birds. Count the cats you find. Walk to a park.
How should I record my timeline?
I recommend journaling to log thoughts, daily emotions, health stability, and literature growth. This improves memory, also making it a treat to look back on steady growth!
Where do I read?
Do your best to read books locally – whether this be from the library or a local bookstore! Local bookstores are often just as inexpensive as big box stores, with unique accessories inside.
Audiobooks are also considered reading, in my opinion, and a great place to start! Libby is free, only requiring a library card. You’ll soon find there are certain voice actors you prefer over others.
Who can I read with?
Reading can feel like a solitary activity, causing others to feel that they’ve been disinvited from a very social environment!
I am a huge advocate of reading apps. We can be quiet or loud together. My username on all apps is tabbed_tabitha, with my chosen favorites being Storygraph, Threads, Tik Tok, and Instagram.
